Hikes to do during your stay During your stay in my gîte by the sea you have the opportunity to discover the Côte Bleue on foot: if you are a hiker at heart you will find, along the Côte Bleue, several interesting circuits to do. Here I present some of the hikes, quite easy to do, they are all accessible to children. Always bring good shoes, a cap and a sufficient quantity of water. The Calanque of Méjean - for cave lovers - Calanque de Méjean An easy hike departing from Port de la Redonne. You will then follow the coast and reach the cove of Figuières then, by road to those of Petit and Grand Méjean. Continuing further, in the direction of Niolon, you will find a magnificent cave on your right, below the path. Open your eyes wide! The return takes the same route to the Calanque de Figuières. The Calanque of Figuerolles - the most accessible - A beautiful hike to do as a family, easy to do as a family apart from the descent to the beach which is a little more arduous. Accessible to young and old, you will find beautiful paths, pine forests, rocky passages with a beautiful arrival from above on Figuerolles beach (a little steep in places all the same). The return is just as interesting on a pleasant path with a beautiful view of the Marseille harbor. The Calanque de l’Erevine - for adventurers- A walk best done in the fall or spring. This is a fairly physical hike, very busy on weekends, and, in places, steep. The hike starts from the small port of Niolon via the customs officer's path, towards Méjean to reach the island of Erevine. Discover the location of your future vacation The Calanque des Figuières is home to a small fishing port but also two pebble beaches including a cove. The first beach is located on the right of the port, easily accessible on foot from the apartment, on a gentle slope. This beach is quite narrow and provides access to another beach via a staircase which allows you to discover a very beautiful view of the Figuières cove. Opposite, you will find a third beach accessible by a small path-style path. It is a small peaceful cove which, like the first beach near the port, offers very easy access to the sea allowing swimming with children. Departures are every day from the port of Carry-le-Rouet, three different circuits are offered by the company “Croisières Côte Bleue Albatros”: Circuit A : The Calanques of the Côte Bleue – Duration: 1h30 Circuit B : The Old Port, the islands of If and Frioul – Duration: 3h00 Circuit C : The Calanques de Marseille and Cassis national park, the Frioul islands and the Old Port of Marseille – Duration: Full day (9 a.m.-6 p.m.) Reservations are made on the website, it is also possible to arrive directly on the quay at least 30 minutes before the boat leaves. MORE By train A train line nr 7 with a very picturesque route that you can take directly from Ensuès la Redonne station (700m from Calanque de Figuières). Dogs are accepted on the train, however, please remember to specify this when booking or purchasing the ticket because they must have their ticket (they will benefit from 50% off the full price). The journey between Ensuès la Redonne station and Marseille lasts around 30 minutes and will allow you to admire the breathtaking landscapes of the coves of the Côte Bleue. You will be surprised by this path along the Coast, where even by car you do not have access. You will thus be able to discover the beauty of the entire Blue Coast, the paradise of turquoise blue colors, the preserved nature. The journey runs along the aqueduct on the height of the coves of Niolon, Méjean, Erevine, Figuerolles... until the Saint-Charles station in Marseille. MORE On foot During your stay with us you have the opportunity to discover the Côte Bleue on foot: if you are a hiker at heart you will find, along the Côte Bleue, several interesting circuits to do. You can simply do a loop of the cove from the parking lot of Ensuès station. This ride gives you stunning views of the bay all the way. You will also be able to admire the majestic stone viaduct of the SNCF line which runs along the 5 coves: the Grand Méjean, Petit Méjean, Figuières, the Redonne and the Madrague de Gignac. Various walking routes are accessible directly at the foot of the apartment, most of which cross the Grand and Petit Méjean. These two coves can be discovered on foot in 10 minutes from my accommodation. Access is very easy, so you can do this walk even with young children. MORE TO BOOK The Côte Bleue train route ABOUT Discover the village of Ensuès-la-Redonne Ensuès la Redonne is a typical village on the Côte Bleue. It is divided into three main areas: the center of Ensuès, eccentric in relation to the sea, Redonne and its port and the ports of Méjean. From the Ensuès car park. The village is part of the commune of Bouches-du-Rhône in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, Ensuès-la-Redonne is located on the coast of the Côte Bleue. It is located not far from Carry-le-Rouet, and about twenty kilometers from Marseille and Aix-en-Provence. Bordered by creeks and marinas, the small town of Ensuès is largely protected by the Coastal Conservatory. Having become very touristy, Ensuès-la-Redonne seduces its visitors with its coastline and its dream beaches. It is also a center renowned for its wind surfing spot due to the southwest and east winds which create waves of several meters. Stand-up paddle, windsurfing and diving are also popular sports in Carro. You will also find many schools there which offer courses throughout the year. Découvrir Sausset-les-Pins For its magnificent cornice which runs along the sea and its small port Renowned for its magnificent promenade which runs along the sea Sausset-les-Pins is 16 km from the Calanque de Figuières. I especially recommend it to lovers of jogging along the sea or to those who like a picnic on the beach. It is accessible in 10 minutes by an expressway which offers you a superb view of the sea and the port of Sausset upon arrival. Découvrir Martigues – the Venice of Provence For its colorful facades, its canals that cross the city and its Italian atmosphere Visit, alone or with a guide, the city center and in particular the Ile district, a true little paradise. The flowery canals and moored boats offer an idyllic setting for a meal on the terrace of a restaurant, the opportunity to taste the region's specialties. Martigues is 20 km from my apartment. Located between the pond and the sea, the town of Martigues will offer you a bit of Italian atmosphere and will seduce you with the charm of its “bird mirror” district.
